“Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock…”
What is the foundation of your life built on? Is that foundation built upon man’s principles and securities, such as our businesses, the companies we work for, the financial institutions, the wisdom of man, or some other part of what we call the American way of life? We know the only sure foundation and hope we have must rest with ~JESUS~ Christ and the principles He lived while here on Earth as recorded in ~GOD’s~ Word. In most cases, it is much easier said than it is to place our life totally in the hands of our Lord. But, in actuality, that is the only place of peace, strength and security…
I recently visited with a close friend who was going through a desperate time. Without going into the specifics, this man had lost everything: home, job and everything connected. On one hand, we would say this is a very difficult place to be, and it is. But, this would also be a great place to be, for when we have nothing, it becomes easier for us to place our lives totally in ~GOD’s~ hands…
As I shared with this man, I reminded him of the great place he was in, for the only way from his position was up. I was amazed as he totally committed his life and everything he had to The Lord. The Spirit of The Lord moved in and took the hopelessness of this situation and brought hope and life. Here is an example of a person who placed his confidence in our Lord and then began to build upon the rock of ~JESUS~ Christ. No doubt that everything that has been taken will be restored according to ~GOD’s~ will and purpose…
How often do we worry about our jobs, about our families, about the future? How futile is this worry? ~GOD~ reminds us we cannot change the number of hairs on our head or our height. He further reminds us He is even mindful of the sparrow that falls. How much more is He mindful of our needs and is willing to provide the provisions of life? ~JESUS~ is waiting with open arms for us to totally commit ourselves (our families, our jobs and everything about us) to Him. Only after we do this will we begin to experience the strength, the joy and the security of life itself. I believe The Lord would remind us that He created us on purpose and for a purpose and until we are totally yielded to Him, He cannot accomplish His will in our lives. ~GOD’s~ plan for us to build on the solid rock of ~JESUS~. What are you building on? It is time for a foundation examination…
